Chameleon Chairs

Hey y’all and welcome back to the blog! Today we are kicking off our event chairs series. We are discussing one of our favorite chairs that we offer at SOHO, the chameleon chair. The chameleon chair is one the most elegant chairs in the market. It's sleek design and versatility make it a popular option for many events, planners, venues and clients. It has been featured at numerous events, including: The Academy Awards, The SAG Awards, and many more!

It is clear the designers of this chair paid great attention to detail. From the design of the back to the tapered legs, no detail was overlooked. The plush cushion is both stylish and comfortable which in the event world, is a huge plus! The chameleon chair is also extremely versatile. You can customize the chameleon chair with its cap, jacket, and skirt. At SOHO we have cushion caps in: ivory, blush and black. We can also special order colors we don't carry in house if you are looking for total customization.

There are also numerous jacket and skirting options for the chameleon chair that allow you to completely transform the look of the chair. Skirting or jackets are a great way to elevate your chairs! You can use them on all of your chairs or simply on some. This is a great way to make your chairs standout from the rest of your guest seating. Your options for customization are almost endless!

Chameleon chairs are beautiful in an indoor venue, but they are also lovely for outdoor events. Using them for outdoor events or under a tent is a wonderful way to bring in some glamor to a natural environment. Coordinating the color of the chairs with the surroundings and color scheme of your event design is a great way to pull the design of the event together!

Now we want to know, of the endless options you have to choose from, how would you style the chameleon chair?

Till next time, Cheers!

Dancing the Night Away

Hey y’all, welcome back to the blog! This week we're talking about all things dance floors. Here at SOHO this is one of our favorite elements of an event for two reasons: we love to dance and it makes an impact on the style and feel of the event. So let's spin on in!

Let's start with the most standard dance floor that we offer at SOHO, the black and white dance floor. You've likely attended an event with this style of dance floor. It's classic and makes a statement with the black and white pattern. We love this style of dance floor when the event has a classic design style. It would also pair great with either our black stage skirting or white stage façade.

Next is the all-white acrylic dance floor. This has become increasingly popular over the years, mostly due to its versatility. Since it's all white, it gives off a nice, clean look. It would go well with any color scheme or design for your event. If you describe your event as glamorous or modern, this is the perfect dance floor for you. If you are looking for a wow factor, this dancefloor pops under a clear Losberger tent!

The third type of dance floor we offer at SOHO is the wooden dance floor. This is another very popular option; again because of its versatility. It will go with any color scheme and event design style. We love the way it can warm up an event and add some texture to the space. It works well with rustic, garden, and vintage themes. We love it the most under a Sailcloth tent in a green field of grass!

When it comes to the sizing of your dance floor there are a few factors you need to consider; the size of your venue space, the layout of the venue and your event and if you have a big or small dancing group. The size and layout of the venue will have the most effect on the size of your dance floor. In terms of guests count, we generally recommend a 16’ x 16’ dance floor as a standard. If you are not sure how to size your dance floor, refer to our dance floor calculator on the resources page.

We hope this was helpful information that aids y’all in deciding which option of dance floor is best for your event. We can't wait to see the beautiful pictures of you and your guest dancing the night away!

Till next time, Cheers!

Boxwood Walls

Hey y’all and welcome back to the Blog! Today we are talking about a rental item that can be multipurpose and help you make a statement at your event… boxwood walls!

Our boxwood walls feature a white wood trimmed base and faux boxwood 360 degree around. They are 8’ tall and 4’ wide making them a great size for many uses. Depending on how you want to use them, you may need one or multiple. Boxwood walls are one of our favorite specialty items because they are very versatile. Let’s dive into some of the many ways our clients have featured our boxwood walls!

Escort Card or Seating Chart Displays:

Our clients have used our boxwood walls at the entrance featuring their escort cards or seating charts displayed. This is a great use of our boxwood walls because they make a beautiful statement while also providing a great function. Guests love that they can find their seating information in a beautiful and easy way. It also makes for a stunning photo.

Champagne Walls:

Clients have loved using the champagne wall attachment to turn our boxwood into a champagne wall. This makes a fun conversation piece and is a great way to welcome guests to the reception or cocktail hour. The walls can hold 44 champagne flutes and we have two boxwood walls that can convert to champagne walls. You could also serve other specialty cocktails in a champagne flute on these walls.

Photo Backdrops:

Oftentimes our clients have used the boxwood walls as a backdrop for photographs, creating the feel of a photo booth. Guests love it and will love sharing the photos with everyone. You can use them as they are or have a florist add florals to them to make them even more beautiful. Another super popular trend has been adding a neon sign to the wall. We have seen both weddings and corporate events add this fun element to the event.

Stage or Cake Backdrops:

Boxwood walls make a great backdrop behind high focus areas to give it a complete look. Our clients have used them behind the cake table, making the space beautiful for the cake cutting and toast moment. Clients have also used them behind the stage to finish off the space. This also can serve the function of hiding any equipment the band needs close by but not visible to your guests.

What's your favorite way to use boxwood walls?

Wedding Wednesday: Stefanek & Reehl Wedding

Hey y’all and welcome back to the blog! This week we are taking a look back at another wonderful event from October of 2021. The Stefanek & Reehl wedding was a stunning event full of special details. Hosted on the bluff of Bayside Academy on a sunny October Saturday, the atmosphere truly couldn't have been more beautiful. The blue and white color scheme felt natural and classic on the bluff and was brought to life by an amazing team of vendors. Blair Gewin of Blair Events planned and coordinated this event wonderfully from start to finish.

The base of the reception design started with a 44’ x 103’ Sailcloth tent which set the scene for a coastal elegant affair. Its high peaks and flags blew in the light bayside breeze and gave off a beautiful glow as the event continued into the night. The tent featured pole drapes and perimeter draping behind the stage to make a statement. We love the look of the pole drapes when they catch the slight breeze and the glow of a sunset.

A custom wrapped 16’ x 24’ dance floor provided by Decal Doodle featured a blue and white Greek key pattern that brought the color scheme to life and made a beautiful statement. It also complimented the white stage façade and white wood bars under the tent as well as the specialty linens on the tables. The white wood bars flanking either side of the stage gave a great symmetry to the tent while also being easy for the guests to access.

A mix of round and rectangular seating was used to create a flow throughout the tent and the bluff. Bistros tables with white chiavari barstools each were alternatively placed around the perimeter of the tent, with additional standing bistros under the tent. The round and rectangle banquet tables and white chiavari chairs were placed under the tent. This created a natural indoor/outdoor living feel of many of the homes along Mobile Bay. It also allowed for guests to naturally move through the event and enjoy all of the elements of this beautiful wedding.

The linens at this wedding were another statement factor bringing the overall design together. The bistro tables and rectangular tables were draped in the specialty linen Washington Sky, a blue and white patterned linen that coordinated beautifully with the blue skies that weekend. The round banquet tables featured another specialty linen, Rain Faille with a White Hemstitch Overlay. The linens on all of the tables complemented each other and the venue perfectly. The combination of the linens, dance floor wrap, drapes and white wood bars combined to build the bones of the design. Beautiful florals by Revelry Bloom and stunning chandeliers and lighting provided by Willow Bridge completed the total vision.

We are always lucky to work with great vendors and clients! We would love to work with you on your next event, so give us a call!
