Sara's Wedding Trends for 2021

Hey y’all and welcome back to the blog! I wanted to take a second to reintroduce myself. My name is Sara and I am the Sales Manager here at SOHO Event Rentals! This week we are discussing some wedding trends that I feel like we will see in 2021! While every couple and every wedding is different, there are some details that are increasingly popular for this year. 

Unexpected Colors and Patterns

As we head into this new year, I feel like unexpected colors and the use of patterns will be a trend we see in 2021. Over the past few years, neutral colors and tones have been popular, but I foresee a turn toward brighter colors and fun patterns that mirror the joy and happiness of a couples wedding day. Some of this can be inspired by one of the pantone colors of the year, Illuminating yellow. These colors can be incorporated into numerous wedding details, including; rentals, linens, florals, stationary, food and more. 

Tented Events

With obstacles still posed by Covid-19, couples may continue to prefer outdoor spaces to allow for safe gatherings of their loved ones. Because of this, we expect a surge in interest in tent rentals. At SOHO we carry so many beautiful tents that will create a beautiful defined space for your wedding while remaining open and airy. In addition to the tent itself, I expect an increase in tent accessories, including; flooring, lighting, and draping. These accessories will contribute an intentional design aesthetic contributing to the beautiful design. 

Individual/single serving foods

Another obstacle of the Covid-19 Pandemic was the need to eliminate self service meals such as buffets. Couples got creative in terms of meal service because of this and I feel we will continue to see this trend in 2021. I have loved seeing creative food displays that make individual servings both unique and fun. Miniature cakes or individual cheese boards are a fun way to still make a statement with your meal. I also love anything that is premade in a single serving container; individual shrimp cocktail, tacos, individual charcuterie boards and more. The creative options are endless.

Non Traditional days of the week

The combination of rescheduled weddings and new booking for 2021 has meant that Saturday dates book up quickly. Because of this, couples are turning to less traditional dates to celebrate their nuptials. I predict we will see an increase in Friday and Sunday weddings throughout 2021. I also feel we may see an increase in weddings being held earlier, such as brunch weddings.

Ana Helmert joins the SOHO team

Meet the newest member of our team, Ana Helmert! Ana joins us as an intern this spring as part of her course requirements at the University of South Alabama in the Mitchell College of Business. She is a Business Management major graduating this May. During this semester, Ana will work alongside our Marketing team while also working closely with sales to gain experience across multiple Departments at SOHO.

Over the last four years, Ana has been a member of the Jaguar Soccer program at the University of South Alabama. She has served as Captain from 2019-21. Accolades include earning 2020 Second Team All-Sun Belt and being a scholar athlete all four years. Ana was also awarded the Lindsay Rogers Award, presented to the student-athlete who epitomizes what it takes to be a Jag. The recipient must maximize their potential in the classroom, have a positive impact in the community, and train with a championship mindset.

“We are excited to have Ana join us this semester. She has an appetite for learning and has quickly jumped in to help us achieve our marketing goals. It is always a rewarding experience to work with interns and I can’t wait to watch her grow.” says Mary Beth Massey, Director of Marketing.

We asked Ana what she’s most excited about this semester, “Being able to learn all aspects of a business in the events industry and the people at SOHO!” Her dream is to one day own her own wedding venue. Ana is originally from Mountain Home, Arkansas. She currently is finishing up her last semester at the University of South Alabama. After graduation she plans to stay in the Mobile area to work for a couple of years.

Galentine's Day

Hey y’all and welcome back to the SOHO blog! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and we know just the way to celebrate! Get your closest gals and let’s celebrate Galentine’s Day! It’s only the best day of the year! Ladies celebrating ladies.

We love the idea of a small, intimate gathering with your closest friends and showing appreciation for the women in your life. What better way than with a blind wine tasting? We’ve created a guide that will help you through the process of hosting your Galentine’s Day wine tasting event, but first let’s talk about setting your table for your guests!

A Galentine’s celebration calls for a beautiful table to gather around. For our tablescape we chose a 6’ table covered in a white majestic linen with our chameleon chairs with blush cushion caps. Our hammered ice gold band charger is a great option to start with, highlighting the soft color of our blush heirloom collection dinner and salad plates. Pairing beautifully with our gold arezzo flatware and bella gold rim glasses. For your wine tasting, you will need: a water glass, red wine glass, white wine glass, and a champagne glass for each guest. Lastly, completing this Galentine’s Day tablescape is our majestic raspberry napkin. This combination of different shades of pinks and pops of golds could also be paired with unique patterns featured in our nest china collection. We have so many amazing options that will surely complete a Galentine’s Day look.

Now that you’ve set a beautiful table, you’ll need to know how to host a blind wine tasting night! We have provided a guide including steps on how to make your Galentine’s Day blind wine tasting event fun and enjoyable for you and your closest friends. We have also included a downloadable wine tasting notecard, which will help everyone score each of the six wines. Along with wine, we think the night will be even more perfect with a charcuterie board, chocolate covered strawberries, or even heart shaped waffles if you’re having brunch! We hope this gives you a fun idea on how to celebrate your Galentines this year.

Let's plan your next event!

Hi y’all and welcome back to the blog! Today we are discussing rentals. Particularly, what you can expect during your rental process with SOHO! When you first begin the process of planning your event, you might not know where to start, that's why we are here. So, let's dive in!

Here at SOHO, there are a few key pieces of information we would like to gather about your event before we move into choosing rental items. Those pieces are date of your event, venue for your event, guest count, budget, and the design style or feel you are going for. These details help us work up the most accurate quote for you. If you don't have every detail locked down, that is okay!

The date of your event will be the first thing we need to know so we can check our availability. Then we will need to know the estimated guest count so we know the quantities of items you will need. Your venue is another important factor because it will affect the rentals you will need as well as parameters we need to follow. For example, if your event is inside a ballroom, we may start with tables, chairs, and linens. If your event is outside, we will start with larger items like tents!

Once we have a grasp on the logistics of your event, we can begin selecting items that fit the design and feel of your event. We offer in person consultations or we can send product photos and inspiration boards. This is the part where we can get creative with your style as well. We love to think outside of the box and bring in some elements that will wow your guest!

 We love to start with larger elements and work our way down to smaller more detailed elements of your event. Consider your tents, dance floors, bars, and tables as larger items. We will coordinate these items first and then move on to pull smaller items, including chairs, linen, china, glassware, flatware, etc. Don't forget that we can also customize some of our items with logos, duograms, or other elements to give your event a totally unique feel!

Once you have made your initial selections, we will work up a quote based on that information. We can tweak these quotes as necessary to work with your budget and style. We will also work with your planner and vendors to coordinate any logistics to ensure a successful event!
